Host communities want Bayelsa Oil Commission

By Samuel Oyadongha Yenagoa — National Chairman of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas, HOSCON, Chief Alred Bubor, yesterday, expressed concern over the continued refusal of Bayelsa State Government to accede to the demand of the people for the establishment of Bayelsa State Oil Producing Areas Commission, BASOPADEC. BASOPADEC, according to the group, will facilitate rapid development at the grassroots. HOSCON, a pressure group with presence in all the oil producing states, except  Bayelsa and Rivers states, is campaigning for the 13 percent derivation to be paid to the oil producing states through the host communities.
